The verticalizer wheelchair moves a person from sitting to standing or lying down, and it can be driven in any of the three positions. It is designed for patients with significant impairments such as paraplegia, brain injuries, muscle diseases and ALS.
Also available under the state programme.
Indications
- Acquired and congenital paraplegia
- Traumatic brain injuries
- Muscle diseases
- Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
- Pressure sores
- Impaired lung function
Features
- Three positions (sitting, standing and lying), and it can be driven in each
- Prevents contractures in the leg joints
- Improves bladder and bowel function
- Helps prevent pressure sores
- Slows osteoporosis and calcium loss from bone
- Prevents orthostatic hypotension
- Improves heart and lung function
How it works
The patient stays in the chair. The knees rest against supports, and a button on the control panel lifts them smoothly to standing and lowers them back. The backrest reclines and the leg rest rises so the person lies down, and the chair can be driven in this position too.
